July 4 Fireworks

Fireworks

This year there are 3 great places to go to watch fireworks on July 4th…….The Diamond, Dogwood Dell, and Rocketts Landing (the newest addition).

Our country has been celebrating Independence Day since July 2, 1776 when the Continental Congress voted to adopt the Declaration of Independence to gain freedom from Great Britain.   The document was ratified by the colonists on July 4, and thus began “the most memorable Epocha, in the History of America,” according to John Adams.

Adams wrote to his wife that the anniversary of independence “ought to be solemnized with Pomp and Parade, with Shews, Games, Sports, Guns, Bells, Bonfires and Illuminations from one End of this Continent to the other from this Time forward forever more.”

Enjoy all the traditions of celebrating our country’s great beginning.
